Theme: “Games of the Cubisiad Over The Last Decade”
This
day commemorates the 11th anniversary since the CUBIES Game was approved as a
Thesis Proposal during CBG 2006 or officially known as Games of the VIIth Colympiad.
This year’s theme focuses on all the Games of the Cubisiad celebrated since its
inception in 2007.
ATHENS
2007 – It was the inaugural CUBIES Game and the First CUBIES Game in Europe.
The CUBIES Symbols (Flag, Hymn, & Flame) were first used at these Games.
There were only 2 Games Federations namely: Java and PS2.
BEIJING
2008 – It was the First CUBIES Game in Asia that was held in the same year as
Games of the XXIX Olympiad. For the very first time, the celebration of a CUBIES
Game is held in the same year as the start of the year of a New Olympiad. The
Games Federations were Java, NES & MAME at these Games.
TOKYO
2009 – It was the Second CUBIES Game in Asia. The Games Federations were Java,
N64 & NES.
MOSCOW
2010 – It was the Second CUBIES Game in Europe. The Games Federations were
Java, PC & Sega MD.
PARIS
2011 – It was the Third CUBIES Game in Europe. The Games Federations were only
Java & PS2 at these Games.
LONDON
2012 – It was the Fourth CUBIES Game in Europe that was held in the same year
as Games of the XXX Olympiad. The Games Federations were again Java & PS2
at these Games.
MANILA
2013 – It was the Third CUBIES Game in Asia that marked the return of the Games
to its birthplace. The Games Federations were Java & GBA at these Games.
NEW
YORK 2014 – It was the First CUBIES Game in the Americas. The Games Federations
were Java, GBA & NES at these Games.
MEXICO 2015 – It was the Second CUBIES Game in the Americas. The Games
Federations were greatly expanded at these Games with 12. Aside from the usual
Java, it now includes 7 Federations from past Games such as GBA, NES, N64, Sega
MD, PS2, MAME, & PC with the inclusion of 4 New Federations (Android, PS1,
SNES, & XBOX360).
RIO
2016 – It was the Third CUBIES Game in the Americas that was held in the same
year as Games of the XXXI Olympiad. It still has 12 Game Federations (Java, Android,
GBA, MAME, N64, NES, PC, PS1, PS2, Sega MD, SNES, & XBOX 360) as with the
previous Games.
ATHENS
2017 – It was the Fifth CUBIES Game in Europe that saw the return of the Games
to its Inaugural Host. The Games Federations now comprises of 14 including the
past 12 Federations from previous Games (Java, Android, GBA, MAME, N64, NES,
PC, PS1, PS2, Sega MD, SNES, & XBOX 360) with the addition of 2 New
Federations (NDS & PSP).
